Creative Visualisation: We’ve been doing it wrong
The human body and
mind is a truly impressive accumulation of a billion years' worth of
evolution. In the current information

problem with this however is that the further away from ourselves we search,

Self Talk
How can self-talk
affect you mentally? If you mainly think negatively about yourself, you will
feel bad most of the time. This can drag you down and make it hard to get back
up. But if you mainly think positively about yourself, you will feel good more
of the time. Research shows that positive self-talk can help. There are many
common ways people use negative self-talk. Here are some ways this cycle can be
broken:
* Be aware of what
you’re saying to yourself (often its negative)
* Ask yourself - is
it true? (Often it’s not)
* Put your thoughts
into perspective (so what?)
* Then ask yourself
- what is a more helpful thought?
Creative Visualisation
Creative
visualisation as defined by Wikipedia is the cognitive process of purposefully
generating visual mental imagery, with eyes open or closed, simulating or
recreating visual perception, in order to maintain, inspect, and transform
those images, consequently modifying their associated emotions or feelings,
with intent to experience a subsequent beneficial physiological, psychological,
or social effect, such as expediting the healing of wounds to the body, minimizing
physical pain, alleviating psychological pain including anxiety, sadness, and
low mood, improving self-esteem or self-confidence, and enhancing the capacity
to cope when interacting with others. Creative visualisation can

Meditation
Meditation is a
practice wherein a person trains the mind and induces a mode of consciousness.
It is a state of being where you are intensely aware of yourself and not your
surroundings. In a manner of speaking, meditation is used to clear your mind
and to erase all concerns. It is a practice of Buddhist monks, but it is not
limited to any religion.
Breathing
Breathing can be
considered the most important of all of the functions of the body because all
the other functions depend upon it. Man can exist some time without eating and
a shorter time without drinking; but without breathing our existence may be
measured by a few minutes. Not only are
we dependent upon breath for life, we’re largely dependent upon correct habits
of breathing for continued vitality and freedom from disease.
One very important
lesson to learn is to breathe through the nostrils and avoid the practice of
mouth-breathing. Many of the diseases to
which we are subject to are undoubtedly caused by this common habit of
mouth-breathing. Carefully conducted scientific experiments have shown that
soldiers and sailors who sleep with their mouths open are much more liable to
contract contagious diseases than those who breathe properly through the
